Duncan and I officially committed to the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) Teach in China, Fall 2013 program and will be moving to China in August 2013!
Before we can go, however, we must get medical examinations with strange requirements (such as getting HIV tests and chest X-rays), finish our TESOL certification, qualify and receive work Visas, prove we really did graduate from college, pay our initial program fees (we’ll be reimbursed upon completing our one-year contracts), buy plane tickets, and figure out how to pack to move to China for an entire year.
There is even more exciting news! Our friends Steven and Lindsay committed to teaching English for a year in China as well (through a different program) and we will be living in China at the same time! We are still waiting for our placement, but they recently were offered and signed contracts to teach Kindergarteners in Beijing. Throughout our time there, we will be keeping in touch with each other, supporting each other, encouraging each other, and going on fun weekend excursions around the country together!
Until next time,
